THE NEW STANDARD
DL1961 is a New York City-based premium denim brand specializing in high performance, sustainably manufactured denim that always offers a perfect fit. Since their launch in 2008, they have become a global leader in denim innovation, fusing technology with fashion in pursuit of better.
They are on a mission to rewrite the way denim is made. It’s no secret that traditional denim production is considered to be one of the most polluting processes – but they don’t believe it has to be that way.
From responsibly sourced raw materials to partnering with some of the world’s most socially responsible vendors, every step in DL1961's supply chain is optimized to save a significant amount of water, energy and dye. The result?
Sustainably crafted denim that’s designed to look better, fit better and be better for the environment than your average pair.
TAKING A STANCE
At DL1961, they dare to do denim differently. Their story began in 2008 with 4 perfect fits, 1 revolutionary fabric and 1 timeless wash, designed for everyone — a focused, forward-thinking collection that refused to compromise on ethics or integrity.
A decade later, their passionate team and global network of socially responsible vendors are still pushing the boundaries of sustainability, quality and innovation. DL1961 is proud to make the world’s greenest high-performance denim.
The goal has never been just to sculpt the body. Since day 1, we’ve sought to reshape the status quo. In the seasons to come, DL1961 hopes to continue shining a spotlight on the issues challenging our communities, environment and ideologies — and insisting on better.
allTRUEist is proud to introduce the perfect denim line that reflects our style, standards & values.
2017 Year in Review
Although there is always a long way to go, DL1961 attributes their 2017 wins to their mainly women-run team and worldwide network of socially responsible partners, who continue to push the boundaries of sustainability, quality and innovation.
Just from scraps alone, this was their environmental impact for 2017:
- 368 lbs. of textile scraps contributed to FABSCRAP
- 5410 lbs. of CO2 saved, the equivalent of planting 64 trees.
